Sports at NIS

At NIS we believe that a strong after-school sports programme can, as part of the school's overall curriculum, help prepare students to be successful in life. NIS teams stress hard work, leadership, camaraderie, sportsmanship and fair play, while promoting and fostering a desire to learn about, and learn from, sports.

Our after-school sports programme serves students at grade levels ranging from 2-12. School teams take part in weekly practices and league competitions. Additionally, Our Middle Years School (MYS) and IBDP teams compete in the various athletic conferences with travel opportunities for various competitions within Bahrain and the Middle East. Our Elementary School (ES) and KG students have many exciting sports events throughout the year like: Track and Field days, Sports Day, Basketball Tournaments, and Soccer Tournaments.

NIS strives to foster a competitive-collaborative environment, in which our students shine as individuals and also learn the value and joy of teamwork. We encourage each student to participate in a variety of physical activities that provide both relaxation from their rigorous academic schedules and boundless benefits for their bodies, minds and souls. Sports and physical fitness activities will be a regular part of each student's curriculum. To this end, NIS has constructed an indoor sport hall and exercise facility.

Bahrain Athletes Sports

Under the guidance, encouragement and mentorship of the school's President, Mrs. Sameera Al Kooheji, NIS established Bahrain Athletes Sports (BAS) last academic year 2011- 2012. This league endeavors to promote sports camaraderie and promote closer ties between NIS athletes and its neighboring schools. The BAS logo had been designed by our students in accordance with its aims to promote social interaction, communication and sportsmanship between the following schools:

  • Al Hekma International School
  • Al Noor International School
  • AbdulRahman Kanoo International School
